Brakes

The performance of the Hayabusa is beyond belief! Great acceleration but marginal stopping power. I decided that when traveling over 150 mph, I needed *GREAT* stopping power. This page is dedicated to my brake swap out.

I started with the front, ordering a PFM conversion kit from 2 Brothers Racing. I selected 2-Bros for outstanding customer service over several other dealers that carried the same kit. These guys are great! The PFM kit includes machined billet aluminum six piston calipers, full floating narrow blade rotors and braided stainless steel brakes lines. Pads were also included from Ferodo C911 compound.

Installation was quite simple. All components bolted right on without any modifications. I spent around two hours bleeding the air out of the new lines and calipers but it was well worth the time.

These brakes perform much better than the stock system. Another advantage is the weight savings. I have since installed Performance Friction carbon/metallic pads which provide a big improvement over the Ferodo pads.

I replaced the rear rotor with a titanium rotor. I also installed Galfer green pads and a stainless steel brake line. This setup provides a quantum leap in breaking performance but the down side is that the rotor will not last if you use the rear brake often. I'm not a heavy "rear braker" so I guess they will  last for me!
